Role Summary
Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy in financial documentation, maintaining organized records, and assisting with routine accounting tasks and general administrative responsibilities.
Location
This position is primarily office-based. Our team currently operates from our Markham office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days. The organization retains the right to adjust this hybrid arrangement, potentially requiring more frequent office attendance.
Responsibilities
- Administration of full function of accounts payable/receivable, including issuing invoices, applying payments and generating month-end statements
- Accounts receivable collection
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Maintain vendor contact files
- Responsible for monitoring and communicating with vendors/stores on finance and administrative related matters
- Provide accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
- Finance related post-secondary education preferred
- Recent graduates are welcome
- 1-2 years of work experience preferred
- Previous AR/AP experience is an asset
- Knowledge of Sage accounting software is an asset
What You Need to Succeed
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, Outlook and Word
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written (including strong spelling, editing, proofreading, punctuation and grammar skills)
- Effective listening skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
- Motivated, self-starter, confident, positive-attitude
