The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial management activities related to General & Administrative (G&A) expenses, corporate allocations, and chargebacks. This includes financial reporting, analysis, and accounting to support accurate and timely decision-making. Leading a team of two professionals, the role ensures the integrity of financial data, drives process improvements, and supports corporate departments in understanding and managing their G&A budgets effectively.
Key AccountabilitiesAccounting, Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Oversee monthly financial statements for G&A departments, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare consolidated salaries and headcount analysis.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting for corporate G&A expenses.
- Support quarterly reviews and audits with consolidated analysis.
- Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to management and internal departments.
Corporate Allocations & Chargebacks
- Oversee billing, accounting, and analysis for corporate allocations and property chargebacks, including accurate application of commodity taxes.
- Review and finalize monthly working papers and reconciliations, highlighting risks or issues.
Projects & Departmental Support
- Oversee financials for IT software development project costs.
- Support Strategic Planning & Analysis team with G&A reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Train and assist departments in understanding G&A expenses and maintaining accountability.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, finance teams, and external stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the department.
- Continuously review and enhance processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Document policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two professionals.
- Foster a positive team environment and provide training through change initiatives.
- Motivate the team and lead by example.
Education:
- University degree (Business/Finance related)
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial management positions.
- Experience in a related industry (preferred).
Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of complex accounting and IFRS or Canadian GAAP
- Proven leadership and general management skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
- English/French bilingualism preferred
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Effort
The mental effort is high and requires attentiveness and/or concentration with people and a computer screen. The physical effort is moderate requiring keyboarding, walking, and sitting.
Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in an office environment. May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings or weekends, based on business needs.
