Overview
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Our hours are 8am to midnight. Shifts are 8-10hr. Most weekends required (alternating with other staff, 2-3 weekends per month). Evening shifts are required - must be available to work until midnight.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including administering anesthesia and monitoring vital signs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning examination rooms.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets’ health and care.
- Keep patient records, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support the team with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling appointments and handling billing inquiries.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is required
- Knowledge of basic animal behaviour and handling technique.
- Ability to work in fast pace environment.
- Ability to lift and restrain animals up to 50 lbs. We are not a hands-free clinic.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential.
