Job Description
Job Summary
As a UX/UI Designer in our Product Development group you will be tasked with designing intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing digital experiences. You will be responsible for conducting user research, designing wireframes and prototypes, and collaborating with developers to bring designs to life. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, visual design aesthetics, and front-end development constraints.
Responsibilities
User Research, Analysis, Testing and Iteration
- Conduct user research through surveys, interviews, and usability testing.
- Analyze user behavior and feedback, to determine pain points to inform design decisions
- Conduct usability testing to evaluate ease-of-use.
- Develop user personas, journey maps, and usability reports.
- Continuously iterate on designs to improve user satisfaction.
UI Design & Wireframing
- Create wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes.
- Design intuitive user flows, ensuring seamless navigation and interaction.
UI Design & Visual Aesthetics
- Define color schemes, typography, iconography, and design guidelines.
- Design user interfaces to adjust as needed for different screen sizes
- Work closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with product managers, and product owners to align designs with user needs.
- Present design concepts and rationales to stakeholders and collect feedback.
- Ensure accessibility (WCAG AA at minimum) and usability best practices in all designs.
Qualifications
Education and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and additional years of relevant experience
- Certifications in UX/UI design are a plus.
- Knowledge of the following:
- UX/UI principles, usability heuristics, and interaction design.
- Design systems, responsive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
Experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in UX/UI design for web and mobile applications.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and developers.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
Technical Environment
- Collaboration Tools: MS O365, ADO Boards, Jira.
- Design & Prototyping Tools: Figma, Adobe XD.
- User Research & Testing Tools: Google Analytics, UserTesting or similar.
- Front-End Technologies (Assets): HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

Mandatory Requirements
- Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking)

- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Reliability (Level I) personal security clearance
