Job Description:- Support Staff
General Statement
Under the direction of the Executive Director of ASAP, Support Staff will be responsible for a variety of duties in providing service to ASAP’s clients.
The Support Staff will assist in fostering non-judgmental service to vulnerable individuals while assisting in maintaining an effective, efficient, flexible, and supportive work environment with the ASAP team. The Support Staff will be able to promote the mission statement of ASAP – To act as a guide for the empowerment, education and self-determination of the financially poor, to act as an agent of change for an inclusive community.
The Support Staff will perform their duties in compliance with the Society’s goals, objectives and policies. Duties will be performed in an efficient and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for smooth operation of client flow, including vetting and directing client issues
- Responsible for dealing with conflict and/or difficult clients
- Assist in maintaining professional and constructive relationships with community agencies, other advocacy groups, funders and Government Ministries.
- Share in assisting clients with issues they present, by providing information or referrals
- Responsible for accurate and timely gathering of daily, monthly and weekly statistics
- Share in office coverage including managing all types of inquiries to ASAP office
- Share in efficient, effective and accurate maintenance of all types of client files
- Share in providing clients with accurate information while being sensitive to diverse needs and backgrounds
- Responsible for sharing in gathering and directing all manner of donations while being respectful of the donator
- Responsible for sorting, cleaning and organization of clothing rooms and connected storage spaces.
- Other duties as requested.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with vulnerable populations in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner
- Ability to multi-task in a high client volume setting
- Good written and oral communications skills including conflict resolution
- Creative problem-solving ability
- Ability to be self directed and motivated
- Understanding of resources available in community and region
- Minimum Grade 12, some post secondary in a relevant field preferred
- Minimum 3 months experience with a non-profit organization
- Bondable and pass a criminal record check.
