Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd., a proud member of the Carlson Construction Group, is seeking a Safety Manager with experience in Land, Marine, Subcontracts, or Mechanical disciplines to join our local team in North Vancouver. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and success of exciting upcoming projects, including major marine terminals, bridge foundations, and large-scale infrastructure upgrades that will shape the future of BC’s coastline and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety records and monitor incident trends.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and provide feedback.
  • Support safety planning for new projects and conduct worker orientations.
  • Lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor compliance of workers and subcontractors; enforce safety regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Keep management informed of safety issues affecting project work.
  • Promote and uphold safe working conditions across all sites.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of field safety experience, preferably in industrial construction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence others.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-driven with strong organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to work shifts and travel outside the Lower Mainland as needed.

Skills / Abilities / Attributes

  • Preferred professional safety designation (e.g., CRSP, RCSO, CHSC, CSS, CIH, or ROH).
  • Occupational First Aid Level 3 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with BCCSA’s C.O.R. program and auditing processes.
  • High personal, professional, and ethical standards.
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent relationship-building, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the safety field.
