About the Opportunity
The Research Assistant contributes to a particular research study or division by assisting with study administration, by providing general administrative support and by maintaining study data.
Specific Accountabilities
Study/Clinical Trial Administration
- Completes Case Report Forms in conjunction with the PI and/or Manager and/or Coordinator
- Processes and submits forms to Research Ethics Board (REB)
- Prepares specimens for shipment, as applicable
- Contacts study subjects to book diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments and appointments
- Administers, scores and records results for study tests (e.g. questionnaires)
- Assists with subject screening by accessing patient charts
Administrative Support
- Acts as a point of contact by providing information or direction when answering, screening and referring telephone calls, emails, faxes and/or in-person inquiries
- Replies to routine correspondence and composes and edits letters, documents and general memoranda
- Orders, maintains and monitors offices supplies
- Attends, records and distributes minutes for meetings
- Faxes, photocopies, books rooms, catering and meetings and other related clerical functions
- Coordinates incoming and outgoing mail and arranges for courier services
- Processes invoices and financial payments
- Acquires signatures for regulatory documents
Data management
- Collects data related to study
- Develops and maintains filing systems for subject and study documentation
- Files study documents, test results, etc
- Develops and maintains methods of tracking information through databases and spreadsheets
- Enters, summarizes and analyses data using database and/or spreadsheets
- Performs statistical analysis where applicable
- Archives documentation related to study once it has closed and develops and maintains a method of retrieval from storage
Performs other related duties as required
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field, or completed post-secondary education in a Health Science and/or Science related field required
- Two years’ research related experience preferred
- CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
- TCPS2: CORE Certification considered an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
- Proficiency with current Capital Health systems (STAR, PHS and/or LIS) an asset
- Experience with REB submission process an asset, especially with ROMEO system
- Diverse experience in data management and analysis an asset – including qualitative, quantitative, and quality improvement frameworks
- Experience with grant writing and application process an asset
- Effective communication, problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to draft, format and edit office correspondence
- Well developed organizational, time management and daily planning skills
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Two years related experience preferred
- Previous experience in a health care/research setting is an asset
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Long Assignment, Full-Time / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
- September 2025 to September 2026, approximately 12 months
- Potential to extend beyond 1 year with successful funding acquisition through granting mechanisms. Successful applicant would be expected to contribute to drafting and submission of grant applications if wishing to extend position beyond 1 year
Compensation and Benefits
$22.78 - $24.48 Hourly
