Plant health field research assistant
Bayer Canada - Crop Science Division is seeking talented individuals to join the canola plant health team as a Plant Health Field Research Assistant. The successful candidate will assist in field disease data collection. This is a great opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with skilled research scientists dedicated to delivering top-quality canola products.
The selected candidate will be hired by a third-party company through Bayer’s Fieldglass system but will work directly for Bayer. This role is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the One Research Road location, with the field research site located in Carman, Manitoba. This is a temporary contract position starting on August 18, 2025, and ending on August 29, 2025.
Responsibilities
· Work in the canola blackleg disease nursery to assist with disease data collection.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Follow Bayer safety rules and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural research team.
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented with great organizational skills and the ability to prioritize daily tasks.
- Flexible attitude and ability to learn new procedures.
- Ability to work under diverse environmental conditions in the field (e.g., heat, cold, wind, dust).
Desired Skills/Experience
· Required education: Degree or diploma in plant pathology, agronomy, agricultural science or related field or equivalent experience.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Familiarity with plant breeding and field research methodologies.
Hours
· 8 hours per day
· Ability to work overtime during week and weekends when required
