TORLYS is currently hiring for the exciting role of Category Manager - Resilient Products in Mississauga, Ontario.
Overview
Reporting to the Director, Product Innovation, the Resilient Category Manager oversees a product category to achieve annual key performance goals. They are responsible for the product selection process and strategy for the assigned assortment for its complete life cycle including budget management, functional operation plans, manufacturing partner management and alignment with cross functional teams.
The position is responsible for driving category management principles through the application of strong data analytics and thought leadership to develop value-added category solution initiatives and profitable business building strategies. This position will develop insights in support of our category vision and brand strategies. This position is responsible for providing category trends and turning insights into action to drive business results and category growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the executing the agreed upon resilient category strategy.
- Own the development of the resilient product assortment and selection/line review process to support TORLYS assortment strategy and financial goals.
- Manage manufacturing partner relationships with a focus on introducing new, innovative products to maximize sales, profit and negotiates purchasing and pricing parameters.
- As the subject-matter expert for resilient products, the category manager identifies, aggregates, and analyzes data to understand and communicate market and consumer trends.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and adjusts category strategies accordingly.
- Determine pricing strategies and manage price positioning to optimize sales and profitability.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure alignment with sales forecasts, working closely with the supply chain team to minimize stock-outs and overstocks.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional plans to drive category sales and increase brand visibility.
- Accountable for sales, margin and budgeted inventory levels (in collaboration with the inventory/purchasing team).
- Provides analytical support for long-term development strategies.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize support and alignment to category plans (including Supply Chain, Technical, Marketing and Sales).
- Attends trade shows and buying trips to support product development/innovation initiatives.
- Travels in-market to support sales efforts, gather intelligence and build relationships with customers.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (Finance, Marketing).
- 7+ years of category management experience, direct category experience strongly preferred.
- Progressive experience in a high SKU-count organization with a complex supply chain.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business plans/initiatives that achieve financial performance and operational targets.
- Exposure to competitor and business intelligence with a demonstrated ability to synthetize and report on business relevance.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Proven commitment to delivering customer-focused initiatives; superior innovation management skills.
- Excellent negotiator with a solid track record of delivering results.
- Ability to build strong relationships and work in cross functional teams.
- MS Office Suite expertise: ability to create and deliver engaging PowerPoint presentations and use data analysis capabilities of Excel.
- Critical and analytical thinker with experience moving from situation assessment through solution ideation to tangible solutions.
- Capable of assuming increased responsibility.
- Comfortable working outside sphere of experience.
- Demonstrated ability to convey information using written and oral communication tools that compel merchant decision making and action.
- Strong planning, project and time management skills to ensure adherence to aggressive timelines

- Travel estimated at 20% to attend trade shows, work on new product initiatives with manufacturing partners and engage with customers and the sales team
