The Breathing Air System Technician is responsible for the maintenance and service of Catalyst Changers respiratory protection systems which includes the SAMS Life Support System, SCOTT and Draeger air systems and North respiratory systems. The Life Support technician will also perform day-to-day activities within the Life Support division. There will be on the job training and as well as in the classroom. Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and inspection of the Life Support system, including disassembly and reassembly of the Life Support helmets and components.
- Cleaning and inspection of respirators.
- Proper cleaning and inspection of the umbilical, umbilical rack, EEL lines, high-pressure manifolds, low pressure lines, communication lines and camera cable for the video system; ensure airlines are uniformly reeled and secured for transport; inspect umbilical rack for possible damage and/or stress cracks.
- Proper cleaning and inspection of fall protection harnesses
- Responsible for the accurate documentation of all inspection and testing on provided inspection forms.
- Test and document the breathing air bottles for purity and ensure the bottles are properly tagged prior to use; retain all recorded paperwork as per Company policy.
- Cleaning and inspection of Life Support helmet for proper storage and cleanliness and assist in user testing and logging the test results of the helmet, file the test results for reference.
- Span test and document the test results of the four-gas analyzer, file the test results for reference.
- Test the communication system and ensure the system is in proper working order.

Qualifications:
- Detail oriented
- Mechanical aptitude
- Lift to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and carry out written, verbal and diagrammed instructions. For safety consideration, this employee must have the ability to read, write and understand English.
- Team Player
- Basic computer skills
Experience: Previous experience in the service of breathing air equipment and respiratory protection is an asset but not required.
Valid driver’s license: Clean class 5 license. Clean drivers abstract.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day. Overtime, shift work, and on-call required as the job demands.
