Join West End Resource Centre (WERC) as our new Bookkeeping and Administrative Assistant. All qualified candidates are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to students currently enrolled in an accounting program, ideally having already completed at least their first year of accounting/bookkeeping training. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply what you're learning in the classroom to your career. Plus, it's a great long-term part-time role while finishing up your studies as the employment contract may potentially be renewed for the following fiscal year.
The expected hours for the role are 20-25 hours per week. Start and end times can be flexible to suit most class schedules, but please expect to be in office at least 2-3 times a week (normally afternoon/evening) to connect with the Executive Director. The primary duties will include payroll and bookkeeping with other administrative tasks as assigned.
The incumbent should ideally have experience in non-profit bookkeeping and possess the following skills and abilities:
- Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop)
- Experience with Payworks is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to streamline and digitalize processes
- Experience running and reviewing payroll, including Records of Employment (ROE's), T4's etc. is a strong asset
- Financial Grant reporting, an asset
- Experience with issuing donation receipts
- Experience managing GST and PST
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and accurate in task and completion
- Willingness to learn and adapt to change
