Position Overview
As the Bilingual Bankruptcy and Proposal Administrator – Leases and Loans, you will manage a portfolio of lease and loan accounts affected by insolvency proceedings, including bankruptcies and consumer proposals. This role involves liaising with trustees, and internal stakeholders to protect the company’s interests and maximize recoveries, while ensuring full compliance with Canadian insolvency regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer lease and loan accounts impacted by:
- Bankruptcies (consumer and corporate)
- Consumer proposals and Division I proposals
- Review insolvency filings and related documents (e.g., Notices of Stay, Proofs of Claim, Statements of Affairs)
- Prepare statements
- Prepare and file Proofs of Claim and other forms accurately and within deadlines
- Monitor timelines and take necessary actions to protect creditor rights be sending a demand to solvent co-lessees/guarantors
- Communicate directly with Licensed Insolvency Trustees (LITs) and customers
- Coordinate with internal departments (Legal, Collections, Asset Recovery) to manage termination, repossession, or settlement processes
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in internal account management systems
- Provide clear, bilingual written and verbal communication for internal and external correspondence
- Stay current with legislative and procedural updates under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and related laws
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in insolvency and collections, or financial services environment
- Fluent in both French and English (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of bankruptcy, consumer proposal, and insolvency processes in Canada is essential
- Experience managing secured leases and/or loans is highly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
