HR & Payroll Manager – ADP & HRIS Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON – Summerhill Market
Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery retailer with multiple locations across Toronto, known for our chef-prepared meals, artisanal bakery items, and curated grocery offerings. As our team grows, we’re seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll administration, drive HRIS optimization, and strengthen employer branding as part of our evolving People & Culture strategy.

About the Role
Reporting to the Director of HR, the HR & Payroll Manager will be the go-to expert for ADP Workforce Now, ensuring full optimization of all modules including Payroll, ATS, LMS, Performance Management, Scheduling, and Document Cloud.
You’ll lead full-cycle payroll for 500+ employees, oversee HRIS data integrity, maintain employee records, and collaborate on employer branding initiatives—including content creation for internal communications and recruitment campaigns—helping make Summerhill Market a top employer in Toronto’s food industry.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & HRIS Oversight
- Manage weekly full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees using ADP Workforce Now
- Oversee HRIS system administration, including configuration, workflows, and integration across modules (Payroll, ATS, LMS, Performance, Scheduling, Document Cloud)
- Maintain strict data integrity and compliance in employee records management
- Generate reports, analyze workforce data, and support audits and year-end processes
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Lead the administration of employee records, contracts, policy acknowledgments, and training certifications
- Support recruitment workflows in ADP (job postings, onboarding setup, applicant tracking)
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal policies
- Collaborate on HR projects that improve operational efficiency and employee engagement
Employer Branding & Content Development
- Partner with the HR and Marketing teams to create content for recruitment campaigns, internal communications, and social media
- Develop engaging materials to support employer branding initiatives, employee programs, and internal culture-building campaigns
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive HR and payroll experience, with in-depth knowledge of ADP Workforce Now (multi-module administration required)
- Strong understanding of full-cycle HRIS management, payroll legislation, and best practices in employee data management
- Experience in employer branding, content development, and HR communications
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Approachable and collaborative with strong communication abilities
- Experience in retail, food production, or multi-site organizations is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CHRP designation considered an asset

Compensation is commensurate with experience and expertise in ADP, payroll, and HRIS management.
