As a leadership volunteer, you will be part of our committees of volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.

In this role, you will be supporting the efforts of the Canadian Cancer Society to raise critical funds to change the future for those living with cancer and beyond. The Canadian Cancer Society is looking for our Volunteer Event Director to support our newest event, “Trivia Night.” Volunteering with the Canadian Cancer Society is more than just a task or experience – it has a real impact. The Canadian Cancer Society is actively recruiting a Volunteer Event Director to join our team.
Brief Overview: Working in partnership with the CCS Staff Partner and the Committee, the Event Director will provide leadership, support and guidance throughout the planning and execution of the event. This role involves working collaboratively to help share the strategic direction of the “Trivia Night” event which includes identifying opportunities for event growth and success.

Your commitment
As the Volunteer Event Director you can expect to work on the following:
- Provide leadership, support and guidance throughout the planning and execution of the event.
- Act as the team leader, ready and flexible to jump in and assist any committee member with their tasks. Committee members should feel comfortable coming to you for guidance or to bounce ideas off.
- Manage the event's overall planning and ensure the committee is working together towards the event goals.
- Manage the Committee Critical Path, reviewing upcoming deadlines at team and individual meetings and ensuring Committee Members are aware of assigned tasks and feel empowered to complete them on time.
- Host monthly/bi-weekly committee meetings, record and share meeting minutes, list and follow-up on action items.
- Manage committee communications between meetings.
- Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for the event.
- Facilitate evaluations and post-event wrap up.
- Be on site for event day to oversee logistics and offer support.
