- Promote, lead and execute a Safety-Always culture for all employees, subcontractors, and consultants in compliance with Aecon’s Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial health and safety legislation.
- Promote safety in all activities and engage in safe work plan development, hazard assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) and mentorship with the crew.
- Track and report project, quality control, resource requirements and customer or employee relations to the project team and Operations Manager.
- Contribute to the development of a construction plan.
- Understand the scope and sequencing of work.
- Traffic detours and pedestrian interaction planning.
- Subcontractor coordination and management between Aecon’s crews and subcontractors.
- Primary on-site liaison with comprehensive knowledge across diverse scopes of civil construction
- Bring best practices from other job sites.
- Understanding of detailed drawings.
- Ensure pedestrian detours and business access is maintained and free of obstructions.
- Oversee different downtown job sites and ensure project teams compliance with all assignments, project polices and procedures.
- Drive quality, efficiency and productivity of project teams and work crews.
- Manage public interactions
- Follow project plans and budget while ensuring the project teams and crews perform to meet production goals.
- Translate drawings, specifications, and work requirements into a prioritized work plan.
- Work with the Operations Manager and Leads to periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure work completed meets quality standards, that preparation and submittal of required reports, documentation and logs are completed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
What You Bring to the Team:
- 8-10 years of experience in a supervisory/superintendent position in the construction industry
- Thorough knowledge of the applicable OH&S legislation
- Experience with planning and executing work while honoring safe work practices and quality standards
- Experience in planning, scheduling, resource balancing for a variety of projects
- Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to resolve project disputes with minimal assistance
- Ability to inspire and foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaboratively work within both an office and site environment
- Sound computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project required
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, accurately and under pressure
- Ability to work the project schedule which may include overtime, weekends, and/or nightshift
