Responsibilities
- Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring high standards of quality and taste.
- Manage all aspects of food preparation, including sourcing fresh ingredients and maintaining inventory levels.
- Follow established recipes and techniques for sushi making, including rolling, slicing, and plating.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Assist in menu development by contributing innovative ideas for new sushi offerings.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a restaurant or food service environment, specifically in food preparation or as a cook.
- Strong knowledge of food handling practices and food safety regulations.
- Familiarity with various types of sushi, ingredients, and traditional Japanese cooking methods is preferred.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in meal presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting.
- A passion for culinary arts and a desire to continually improve skills within the food industry.
