The Spruce Grove and District Agricultural Society is a local non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving and celebrating agriculture's influence on our community. Founded in 1972, we maintain the historic Grain Elevator and Museum, providing programs, events, and a sense of community connection. We are looking for a Summer Full-Time Position to assist with office support, site tours, event planning, and more!
Responsibilities:
- Answer telephone calls and respond to messages in a professional manner
- Conduct site, elevator, and museum tours, sharing historical and agricultural knowledge
- Assist with event planning and coordination, including setup and take down
- Work in the site concession
- Help maintain the Grain Elevator, Museum, and Machinery Row, including cleaning and organising
- Assist with outdoor work including lawn maintenance, gardening, and watering flower pots
- Assist with general maintenance tasks such as organising and cleaning public spaces (washrooms).
- Support the Community Garden activities and general grounds upkeep (cutting grass, trimming, weeding, etc.)
- Provide assistance to volunteers as requested by the Administrative Coordinator
- Follow all safety procedures ensuring a safe work environment at all times.
- Assist with advertisement board changes and other on-site displays.
Requirements:
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ages 15 years to 30 years of age.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace applications, social media platforms and Cricut preferred
- Community-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Must be able to maintain a tidy appearance and a professional demeanor
- Willing to clean office, washrooms, and elevator as needed/requested
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Work outdoors in varying conditions
- Experience in event planning and coordination is an asset
- Uniforms & Safety Footwear Required (T-Shirts will be provided)
- Preference given to candidates with a valid First Aid Certificate
- An interest in history and agriculture is considered an asset
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
