Are you a rockstar Veterinary Assistant who’s ready to get involved, and make an impact? Tired of only cleaning and folding laundry? Looking for a practice where your skills actually matter and there’s room to grow? Then you might just be the compassionate, confident, and capable VA we’re looking for!
At Fraser Heights Animal Hospital, our VAs are an essential part of our care team – not just in the background. You’ll get your hands into everything from, surgical prep, to chatting with clients, to running lab tests. We’re a busy, multi-doctor hospital (7 amazing vets!) with a supportive, long-standing team that feels more like family than coworkers. And… we need YOU to help us keep up with the demand for exceptional care.

- Work in a team with our veterinarians during appointments and procedures
- Collect patient history and load exam rooms
- Take occasional reception shifts (because teamwork is important to us!)
- Help our clients find the right veterinary diets in our pet food store
- Fill prescriptions and answer client questions
- Collect pets from rooms or waiting area, and assist with handling/restraint
- Draw blood and run IDEXX in-house lab tests (yes, our VAs do blood draws!)
- Administer injections and assist with tech appointments (nails, anals etc.)
- Prep and assist in surgeries, record vitals during anesthesia
- Maintain accurate drug and surgery logs
- Share cleaning duties – everyone pitches in to keep things spotless and safe
The Details:
- Flexible scheduling: choose between 4 x 10-hour days or 5 x 8-hour days
- VA or VOA Certification required
- Cornerstone experience is a bonus, but not a dealbreaker
- Pay: $20.00–$23.00/hour (based on experience)
- Hours: 32–40 per week, including evenings and weekends (latest shift ends at 8pm)
Why You’ll Love Working Here:
- Competitive wages + benefits package (yes, we offer an Employee Assistance Plan!)
- Monthly team birthday lunches (PS. Dr. Duff makes the best cupcakes!!)
- Staff competitions and team events – June we have a team spin class, August is our summer party, and November is our “Be Active” challenge (prizes included!)
- We have diverse services: from laser therapy and acupuncture to orthopaedic surgery, ultrasound, in-house lab work, and more – this is a place to learn and grow!
If you’re motivated, compassionate, love animals and people, and want a practice where you’ll be appreciated and challenged – we want to meet you!
