Job Description
Thrive Therapy is seeking 1 to 2 enthusiastic Student Volunteers to support our Summer Group Programs for children aged 4 to 10. These groups are led by registered Occupational Therapists and offer a hands-on opportunity to gain meaningful experience working with children who have additional needs.
This volunteer role is ideal for:
- Students exploring careers in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or other healthcare professions
- Those with an interest in child development, youth programming, or pediatric healthcare
Program Details:
All sessions take place at Thrive Therapy’s Halifax clinic – 7071 Bayers Road.
- Group 1: July 7 – 11 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Group 2: July 14 – 18 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Group 3: July 21 – 25 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Group 4: August 11 – 15 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Volunteers are not required to attend all four groups, but preference will be given to applicants who can commit to a full week per group. Consistency helps build stronger connections with the children attending.

Requirements:
- Current (or willing to obtain) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Current (or willing to obtain) Child Abuse Registry Check
- Outgoing and friendly personality, with a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
- Reliability and professionalism in a team-based setting
Responsibilities:
- Support the lead Occupational Therapist with group setup, facilitation, and cleanup
- Help prepare and organize therapy materials and activities
- Engage positively with children during group sessions, encouraging participation and social interaction
- Provide basic assistance to children as needed under the therapist’s guidance
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with staff, children, and families
