Role Details
As a leadership volunteer, you will be part of our committees of volunteers who will work over the months to help us organize our fundraising events. Depending on the needs in your community, available roles could include committee lead, logistics, community outreach, volunteer lead, and social media.
Description
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.
This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
As the volunteer Social Media Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and executing the social media strategy to promote the CIBC Run for the Cure in your community, using CCS-approved branding and language.
- Posting regularly on your local CIBC Run for the Cure Facebook and Instagram pages.
- Creating your own social media content and graphics.
- Responding to Facebook and Instagram comments and messages in a timely manner.
- Building your followers/audience and increasing engagement.
Why we need you
It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate for this volunteer role has:
- A positive attitude
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong sense of self-motivation and time management.
Must be 18+ to apply and complete the Canadian Cancer Society code of conduct.

Your commitment
- This is a 6-month commitment (May through October).
- Attending local committee meetings (generally bi-weekly to monthly).
- Independent role work/responsibilities (approx. 4-6 hours per month).
- Must be available over the event weekend (October 4 & October 5).
