Located in Central BC and reporting directly to the Project Manager and the Senior Director of Hotel and Restaurant Renovations, this role is a key member of the Renovations and Construction Team, partnering closely with our Hospitality Leaders.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading all on-site activities to deliver high-quality renovations that uphold brand standards, meet operational timelines, and align with budget expectations. You will be in charge of building a self-performing site team and working collaboratively with other divisions, including procurement, operations, construction, and design, as well as enforcing best practices, monitoring project expenditures and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key to success in this rolewill be the ability to manage competing priorities, lead with accountability, and maintain consistent attention to detail — all while keeping communication clear, proactive, and professional. Your key duties in this role are:
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities of the crew.
- Hire, train, and assign employees, crew and subcontractors, providing coaching, counselling, and discipline if necessary to achieve high performance and quality.
- Monitor and control employees, crew and subcontractors' performance, communicate job expectations, evaluate job contributions and recommend compensation actions, adhering to policies and procedures.
- Enforce best building practices, conducting daily inspections to maintain construction quality standards, resolving problems and implementing measures to improve efficiency.
- Assist the creation of construction schedules to meet project timelines, standards and budget parameters.
- Monitor project expenditures, identify labour, equipment, and materials variances, and implement corrective actions to meet the construction budget.
- Prevent fines and interruptions by following standards and enforcing codes and regulations.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Support the growth and development of company culture
- Performs other duties as required
- '5+ years of experience in similar roles.
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Knowledge and expertise in finishing interior work is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Understanding of all safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure health & safety standards.
- Competence in project scheduling, cost estimation and budget management.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Ability to track record of successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Experience conducting and facilitating safety training programs.
- Problem-solving ability and proficiency in creating cost-effective solutions.
