About the Role
The Resource Centre is the hub of job search and settlement activity, welcoming over 300 visitors each month. As the Resource Centre Advisor, you’ll be the first point of contact, ensuring visitors feel welcome and supported. You’ll provide hands-on help with computers, job search tasks, and connecting clients to the right programs and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and support clients in the Resource Centre, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment.
- Provide hands-on assistance with computer use, email setup, online forms, and job search activities (résumés, cover letters, and job postings).
- Connect clients to counsellors, settlement staff, or external services when additional support is needed.
- Keep the Resource Centre organized and stocked with updated job postings, program materials, and community resources.
- Track attendance and assist with basic reporting requirements.
- Support workshops, hiring events, and group activities in the Resource Centre as needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share information, coordinate client support, and improve the overall client experience.
Qualifications & Key Attributes
- Post-secondary education in career development, human services, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–2 years of experience in a resource room, employment services, or customer service environment.
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office, internet searches, online job platforms).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with patience and cultural sensitivity.
- Friendly, approachable, and able to explain tasks step-by-step.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple client needs in a busy environment.
- Experience working with newcomers or diverse communities is an asset.
