JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporation of the City of Orillia is seeking a part-time Program Instructor – Seniors at Play within the Parks and Recreation Division of the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department.
DUTIES
- Set up, lead, monitor, and clean up a variety of programs, such as shuffleboard, carpet bowling, card games, and other recreational activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing rules and regulations in accordance with established procedures.
- Promote a positive and enjoyable environment while maintaining a focus on participant safety and engagement.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling specialized activities and events for the Seniors at Play program.
- Support the creation and implementation of marketing materials to promote the Seniors at Play program.
- Assist with general cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Administer first aid when necessary and perform additional duties as required to support program success.
- Execute other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the program and participants.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with older adults is highly valued.
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED from an accredited organization.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential for fostering positive participant interactions.
- A current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required prior to the employment commencement date, at the incumbent’s expense.
- A valid Ontario class G driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract is required.
Compensation for this position is $18.40 per hour. The current opening requires availability on Tuesdays and Fridays, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.Interested applicants are invited to submit an application by August 15, 2025, at noon.
