Job Summary
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Parks Capital Project Management Specialist. Under the direction of the Deputy Director, Parks and Natural Areas, the Parks Capital Project Management Specialist manages all aspects of capital projects including project coordination, engineering, tender preparation, inspection, contract administration, project cost control, and stakeholder management for assigned projects.

Requirements
Applicants must have a diploma from a recognized educational institution in engineering or related discipline, as well as a minimum of 5 years’ related experience in civil engineering design, survey, planning, or construction, and project management experience through all phases of projects (planning, design, and construction) for projects with a value of $1 million. Membership in or eligibility for membership in ASTTBC is required, as well as a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a CUPE bargaining unit position based on a 40-hour work week, and subject to Article 1(d) - Probationary Period as set out in the Union Collective Agreement. The hourly wage is $51.36, increasing to $54.06 after 60 working days (Jan 2025 Rates). The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
