OSP COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
0.4 FTE Contract Position (until March 31, 2026)
Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre (WHIWH-CHC) provides racialized women, trans and non-binary clients from the African, Black, Caribbean, Latin American, and South Asian communities in Toronto and surrounding municipalities with culturally safe, relevant, and responsive primary healthcare. We are changemakers engaged in knowledge transfer and exchange, research, capacity building, and advocacy within and across multiple systems.
WHIWH-CHC is recruiting a highly motivated, professional and dynamic individual to join the team.
Position Description:
The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program is a program in collaboration with CAMH, delivered at WHIWH-CHC. This program offers short-term cognitive behavioural therapy with a psychotherapist. The Community Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with the OSP team to increase awareness about the OSP program through culturally-relevant and tailored community engagement strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Active participation in devising a strategic plan for OSP community engagement and outreach efforts, implementation of tailored outreach strategies and evaluation of approaches
· Coordinating, preparing and attending diverse in-person and virtual internal and external community events
· Supporting community members to identify barriers to services, and get involved in advocacy and other tasks, as appropriate
· Recommends and develops, in accordance with other CHC staff, outreach strategies and approaches according to the needs of the populations of interest.
· Developing a social media strategy to increase awareness about the OSP program
· Regularly creating and publishing social media posts on platforms including (but not limited to): LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram
· Act as a resource to staff and the community by establishing and maintaining links with community groups, agencies and organizations
· Actively conducting outreach to clients and communities by organizing/attending community events, promoting our programs, updating internal information boards, and working on our promotional materials to increase awareness and attach clients to services
· Community mobilization and developing a working relationship with members of this community
· Supporting the development and distribution of health promotion and communications resources/materials to clients and communities
· Meet with community agencies across the GTA to develop and support health promotion and community engagement activities and identify opportunities for project deliverables
· Developing presentations and reports to share results, outcomes and impact with our Centre staff, CAMH collaborators, and community members
· Work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and seeks to minimize risk.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Health, Community Development, Social Work, Social Sciences discipline and/or an approved equivalent of education and related experience
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in community organizing, outreach, and engagement in a community based, inter-disciplinary environment
3. Advanced understanding and practical application of community development, health promotion principles and tools, social determinants of health and anti-oppressive practices
4. Thorough knowledge of community resources/services available for our priority populations in Toronto
5. Experience working with racialized populations
6. Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with crisis and conflict and to maintain appropriate boundaries
7. Able to plan, organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and take initiative.
8. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
9. Proficiency and creativity in the use of computer technologies and social media platforms
10. Must be familiar with MS Office applications i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
11. Ability to travel within Toronto and to work frequent evenings and weekends to meet programming needs
12. Proficiency in languages(s) other than English spoken within our priority populations considered an asset
REPORTING:
This position reports to the Director of Population Health.
