Position Overview:
As an OSP Cable Placer, you will be responsible for the placement of fiber-optic and copper cables in aerial, underground, and building environments. You will work as part of a team to ensure accurate and efficient installation of telecommunication infrastructure, following industry and safety standards. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys hands-on work, and thrives in outdoor environments.
Responsibilities:
- Install, place, and secure fiber-optic and copper cables in both aerial and underground settings.
- Operate cable placement equipment, including bucket trucks, reel trailers, Hydraulic Tuggers, jetters and cable lashers.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to ensure accurate cable placement.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use appropriate safety equipment, including PPE.
- Identify and report any obstacles or issues encountered during placement activities.
- Work closely with OSP engineers, technicians, and construction crews to complete projects on time.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting of cable placement issues and assist in necessary repairs.
- Document completed work and maintain detailed records of cable routes and installations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in cable placement, telecommunications, or related field.
- Proficient in the use of cable placement tools and equipment (bucket trucks, lashers, pullers, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and utility maps.
- Strong knowledge of OSP construction standards and practices.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces, as well as in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.
-Ability to work at heights of up to 50ft utilizing various AWP’s
-Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
