Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient care and support within our practice. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of medical office experience and customer service skills, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation while assisting patients with their eye care needs.
Duties
- Assist the optometrist during eye examinations by preparing patients, managing equipment and preliminary testing.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) for all patient visits, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
- Provide exceptional patient care by answering questions, addressing concerns, and guiding patients through their appointments.
- Manage front desk operations, including scheduling appointments, checking in patients, and processing payments/insurance.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a welcoming environment for patients and their families.
Requirements
- Previous medical office experience is preferred but not mandatory, particularly in an optometry setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems is advantageous
- Strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and effective communication skills.
- Experience in front desk operations within a healthcare or retail environment is beneficial.
- Understanding of medical terminology relevant to eye care practices is preferred.
