Roles and responsibilities:
- Support Field Staff in the Safe operations of their duties.
- Conduct site inspections, complete investigations administer training and facilitate timely corrective actions.
- Develop Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including recommended mandatory training and reporting.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
- Establish a full program of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks. Perform internal COR audits. Assist with external COR audits
- Act as Secretary for Post Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure all agreed action points are completed within deadlines.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders.
- Provide regular reports to Post Health and Safety Committee on relevant health and safety activities.
- Liaise with suppliers for procurement of health and safety resources
- Any other duties which may be required by management from time to time
- Fleet Management including insurance, maintenance, quarterly vehicle reviews, and fuel card management.
- Onboarding safety components of new employees
- Arranging safety training and drug/alcohol testing
- Running Weekly safety meetings including discussing relevant health and safety topics
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
To qualify, you will need at least 3 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer in construction or technical heavy industry, as well as a degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management. ( Please don't apply if you don't hold any certification in Occupational Health And Safety).
- Experience with administrative and audit work.
- Proven background successfully generating, monitoring and achieving occupational health & safety objectives.
- Must be proficient with WorksafeBC, WCB Alberta and WCB Yukon
- Must have experience with online vendor pre-qualification systems such as ISNetworld and Avetta
- Attention to detail and strong time management skills
- Current or previous COR Auditor certification is required

- Emergency response experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
