Mental Health Capacity Builder – Wellness Promoter
Permanent full time/ 37.5 hours per week/ 12 months per year

Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, promote and deliver universally accessible mental health promotion programming for school-wide and large and small groups in schools and community settings;
- Focus programming and training on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to improve their own mental health and wellness;
- Work with students, division staff, parents/guardians and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills, competence and confidence related to decreasing any stigma towards mental illness and creating a school culture that fosters a sense of belonging and safety;
- Work as part of a team (e.g., school staff, students, parents/guardians, community members) to recognize, understand and adapt to the changing needs of their community related to mental health and wellness;
- Create knowledge within the school community of pathways for connecting individuals with appropriate mental health and well-being supports and/or services including how to access specialized mental health and addiction programs and services; and other community supports;
- Connect and collaborate with other MHCB staff in the province to identify challenges and celebrate successes;
- Assist with evaluation activities and survey data collection for the MHCB program as requires by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA);
- Ensure all relevant documentation is in accordance with the Health Information Protection Act and the Freedom of information and Protection of Privacy Act;
- Ensure compliance with the SHA funding agreement;
- The successful candidate will have a commitment to the vision, mission, principles and goals of the Chinook School Division.
Desired Qualifications:
- A related degree, diploma or certificate in health or social science fields (e.g., health promotion and prevention, kinesiology, social work, nursing, psychology, public health, or early childhood development) or a relevant combination of education and experience; Minimum two years of experience working in promotion, prevention and/or client-based services of addictions and mental health;
- Knowledge of mental health and wellness, health promotion and prevention philosophy, strategies and principles and child and youth development;
- Familiarity with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families;
- Ability to build relationships and communicate positively with all age groups; Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
