Ontario Health is seeking a strategic and collaborative leader to join our Central Region team as the Lead, Capacity, Access and Flow. This role is pivotal in supporting Mental Health and Addiction program areas through expert planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement. You will play a key role in identifying system gaps, driving quality improvement, and implementing regional initiatives that align with Ontario Health’s broader priorities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned health system planner who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about improving access, flow, and service coordination across the healthcare continuum.
Here is what you will be doing:
  • Provide strategic planning input to healthcare funding plans and oversee project design, implementation, and budget allocation.
  • Identify emerging community needs and apply evidence-based planning methodologies, including predictive modeling and stakeholder consultation.
  • Lead regional initiatives to improve service quality and patient safety, with a focus on mental health and addictions.
  • Analyze local healthcare system data and community feedback to identify service gaps and inform planning priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support implementation, monitor performance, and drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Promote high-quality research and planning practices, contributing to the development of methodologies and tools that support system transformation.
  • Draft reports, recommendations, and briefing notes to inform decision-making and support accountability.
  • Foster a culture of service coordination and patient safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and organizational standards.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
  • Post-secondary education (Bachelor’s Degree) in health administration, health planning, business administration or a related field with Master’s level degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and 7-10 years experience in a health care environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Experience with mental health and addiction services is an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good knowledge of and proven ability to apply multiple planning and analysis methodologies and make effective recommendations.
  • Understanding of the current and changing dynamics of the Ontario health-care system and issues.
  • Understanding and experience with embedding quality improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated financial competence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with other staff and to liaise with colleagues across Ontario Health and with contacts in the Ministry.
  • Must be highly organized and able to thrive in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Uses information to make informed decisions and provides advice; exercises high degree of independence and professional judgment in problem solving.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. Internally, communicates with colleagues throughout the organization to present, discuss information and problems related to financial management and funding. Externally, communicates directly with various stakeholders to monitor funding allocations and performance.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism with a solid understanding of financial controls.
