Position Summary:
South Country Co-op is seeking a friendly and customer-focused Meat Cutter to join our team at the Taber Food Store in Taber, AB. If you’re passionate about providing exceptional customer experiences, we’d love to hear from you!
Reporting to the Meat Manager, the Meat Cutter is responsible for cutting, packaging, and displaying meat products, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and assisting with inventory and ordering. This position plays a key role in ensuring the Meat Department operates smoothly and efficiently by preparing fresh cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood while providing exceptional service to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous customer service
- Prepare fresh cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood to meet customer and store needs
- Package, price, label, and display products for retail shelves Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary department environment
- Assist with ordering, inventory control, and receiving procedures
- Assist in ordering, receiving, and inventory management
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety throughout the department
- Ensure adherence to all meat cutting procedures and safety regulations
- Practice good housekeeping and sanitation practices in work areas, coolers, and freezers
- Educate customers on the benefits of membership in South Country Co-op
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and completed Grade 9
- Minimum of 2+ years of meat cutting experience, preferably in a retail environment
- Meat Cutter certification is an asset, or willingness to obtain within 12 months
- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 20 lbs., occasionally carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in cold environments (cooler at approx. 7°C, freezer)
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a diverse team
- Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Strong knife skills, manual dexterity, and safe equipment operation
Work Schedule:
This position requires full availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
