The Manager, Analytics & Category Optimization is a high-impact role based in Toronto, Ontario that bridges technical analytics, business strategy, and cross-functional leadership across multiple focus areas:
- Internally, you will drive data-driven decision-making by developing Power BI dashboards, analyzing performance, and guiding commercial strategy at the executive level. You will also lead cross-functional collaboration across Commercial, IT, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Externally, you will develop strong and integral relations with Provincial Boards, Key Accounts, and industry partners to communicate insights and unlock leading category growth.
- Strategically, you will build enterprise-wide capabilities that elevate Organigram’s analytics maturity and commercial agility. You will take ownership of key analytical projects, manage external data suppliers, develop advanced reporting tools, and strengthen the technical infrastructure that supports scalable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Analytics and Strategy
- Analyze sales, product, pricing, and promotional performance across channels and categories to identify business opportunities and risks
- Deliver actionable insights that shape commercial strategies across Sales, Trade Marketing, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Product Development
- Lead strategic performance reviews, deep-dive investigations, scenario modeling, and ad hoc analyses to address critical business questions and support executive decision-making
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards using DAX, Power Query, and SQL to enable real-time performance tracking
- Streamline recurring reporting processes and build scalable tools that empower self-serve analytics across business functions
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and usability across reporting assets and stakeholder groups
- Leverage internal and third-party data to monitor market trends, whitespace opportunities, and competitive activity
- Develop compelling, insight-driven narratives to support business reviews with Provincial Boards and Key Account Partners
- Contribute to go-to-market plans, pitch decks, and customer-facing deliverables by embedding relevant insights
- Partner with internal teams across Commercial (Sales & Marketing), Information Technology (IT), Product Development, Finance, and Supply Chain to align analytics priorities with business needs
- Lead initiatives that improve cross-functional data literacy and enable insight-driven decisions
- Champion a culture of analytics by building tools, training stakeholders, and advancing analytics adoption across teams
- Manage relationships with external data providers to ensure high-quality ingestion, mapping, and accessibility
- Contribute to the evolution of technical infrastructure that supports scalable analytics, reporting, and automation
- Identify opportunities to enhance analytics maturity through new tools, streamlined processes and workflows, and the use of emerging technologies and AI
Experience and Education
- 6–8 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or commercial analytics, ideally within CPG, FMCG, or a regulated industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree an asset)
- Experience in the cannabis industry is a strong asset
- Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and SQL, with a proven ability to develop impactful, user-friendly dashboards
- Expert-level MS Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, and advanced data analysis tools
- Working knowledge of SQL for managing and transforming large datasets
- Understanding of ETL processes, data modeling, warehousing, and cloud-based data architecture (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Dynamics 365)
- Exposure to statistical tools such as R or Python is beneficial but not required
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools is an asset
- Curiosity and passion for AI, automation, and emerging technologies
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong strategic mindset
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive business impact
- Experience influencing executive decision-making through strategic performance analysis, scenario planning, and business case development
- Native or fluent English, with excellent verbal, written, and comprehension skills
- Proven ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including external stakeholders
