Saba Restaurant is currently hiring up to 2 reliable and motivated Prep/Line Cooks to join our kitchen team. This role involves supporting all aspects of back-of-house operations — from food prep and line cooking to maintaining cleanliness and assisting wherever needed during service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine kitchen prep tasks efficiently and safely.
- Follow prep lists and instructions to plan daily duties.
- Prepare ingredients (e.g. washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meats).
- Set up workstations and ensure all ingredients and tools are ready for service.
- Execute basic cooking tasks including sauces, salads, sides, and entrees.
- Cook food items to spec using grilling, frying, sautéing, and other methods.
- Label, stock, and store ingredients properly to ensure freshness and organization.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and cooking areas.
- Support in washing dishes when the kitchen is busy or the dishwasher is unavailable.
- Take out garbage, sweep/mop floors, and help close the kitchen properly.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
- Support the team in all other kitchen duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen prep or line cook experience.
- Fluency in English is required; Arabic or another second language is an asset.
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification preferred (must show proof if available).
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada and meet BC’s minimum working age.
- Comfortable using restaurant computer systems and POS platforms.
- Strong multitasking, time management, and team collaboration skills.
Schedule:
- Day and evening shifts (until 10 PM)
- Must be available on weekends and holidays
- On-call availability may be required
