Job Summary
As a project Lead, you will provide leadership and technical expertise for survey design, data collection processes, analytical methods, interpretation of results, and reporting for two existing surveys: the Emergency Department Patient Experience of Care survey and the Primary Care Patient Experience survey. As well, the position is responsible and accountable for province-wide survey data and measurement projects that require appropriate engagement methods and a flexible interpersonal style to build, manage, and/or support a cohesive project team and relationships with external partners.
Key Responsibilities
· Applies advanced knowledge of survey design, methodology, and analysis to projects focused on a specific patient population or health sector.
· Leads the adaptation and implementation of scientifically sound approaches that reflect the unique needs and experiences of the target population, supporting improvements in patient safety, person-centred care, and health service quality.
· Ensures methodological rigor and ethical integrity across all stages of survey projects within the assigned program area.
· Works closely with the Lead, Survey Methods, to align survey practices with organization-wide standards and to seek methodological advice where needed.
· Monitors emerging trends, evidence, and policy developments relevant to the assigned population, translating these into meaningful survey initiatives and actionable insights.
· Generates project ideas that align with the organization’s legislated mandate and evolving health system priorities by engaging internal teams and external health system partners and develops well-scoped project proposals to advance shared objectives.
· Leads and/or develops, with project team members, appropriate reporting mechanisms that are tailored to the audience (e.g., report, briefing note, newsletter blurb).
· Leads and/or develops, with project team members, presentations of analytical results to various stakeholder groups.
· Identifies opportunities and takes action to build and maintain strategic working relationships and/or networks of contacts between one’s work area and other areas, teams, departments, or external organizations to help achieve the organization’s strategic and business goals as it pertains to surveys and survey methods.
· Builds team capacity through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
· Oversees resourcing across projects and ensures effective delegation and workload management.
· Manages team dynamics, resolves conflicts and communication challenges.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., sociology, anthropology, public health, psychology, health services research) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 7+ years of progressive experience in survey administration, including design, implementation, and analysis with demonstrated expertise in a specific patient population or health sector.
· Strong grounding in ethical practices and methodologically sound approaches to survey design, data management and analysis.
· Extensive experience in data interpretation, synthesis, and reporting with the ability to communicate complex ideas in meaningful terms to external audiences.
· Extensive experience writing technical report and project proposals is required.
· Leadership and facilitation skills to manage diverse groups.
· Knowledge and understanding of Alberta’s of healthcare system, with particular focuses on emergency departments and primary healthcare.
· Organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Collaboration and teamwork are essential to the success of the organization.
· Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to learn and embrace new technologies and methodologies.
Working conditions
· Willing to travel throughout Alberta, with occasional travel out of province.
· Willing to work in a fast-paced work environment that requires flexibility and openness to change.
· Location: Calgary, Alberta
· Hybrid work environment: 3 days in the office (mandatory).
· Anticipated start date: August 1, 2025.
