Job Summary
As an administrative data project lead, you are responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of projects that support the organization’s strategic and operational goals. Drawing on deep expertise in health data and systems, the Lead oversees projects from inception to reporting, ensuring methodological rigor, ethical practice, and the meaningful use of administrative data to drive system improvement. The role is central to supporting cross-functional collaboration, advancing data-informed decision-making, and contributing to system-wide learning. A key focus of this position is co-leading the evolution of the Primary Healthcare Panel Reports, shaping the next phase of this foundational reporting initiative to better support primary care and health system integration.
Key Responsibilities
· Applies advanced knowledge of administrative data sources, structures, and analysis to projects focused on a specific patient population or health sector.
· Leads the adaptation and implementation of scientifically sound approaches that reflect the unique characteristics, care pathways, and system interactions of the target population, supporting improvements in patient safety, person-centred care, and health service quality.
· Ensures methodological rigor and ethical integrity across all stages of administrative data projects within the assigned program area, from data acquisition and transformation to analysis and reporting.
· Works closely with the Lead – Administrative Data Methods to align analytic practices with organization-wide standards and to seek methodological advice where needed.
· Monitors emerging trends, evidence, and policy developments relevant to the assigned population or health sector, translating these into meaningful administrative data initiatives and actionable insights.
· Identifies opportunities and takes action to build and maintain strategic working relationships and/or networks of contacts between one’s work area and other areas, teams, departments, and/or external organizations to help achieve the organization’s strategic and business goals as it pertains to administrative database functions
· Builds organizational capacity through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing across the organization, as appropriate.
· Oversees resourcing across projects and ensures effective delegation and workload management.
· Manages team dynamics, resolves conflicts and communication challenges
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., health information science, public health, data science, information systems, or a health-related discipline), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 7+ years of progressive experience with administrative data, including data extraction, transformation, analysis, and reporting, with demonstrated expertise in a specific patient population or health sector.
· Strong grounding in ethical practices and methodologically sound approaches to quantitative design, data management and analysis.
· Proficient with database manipulation, computer programming and related analytical software including R, Stata, SAS, or Python.
· Extensive analytical knowledge and skills, and the ability to identify innovative solutions for complex database structure and analytical problems, as well as identifying opportunities to improve database management and manipulation.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
· Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to learn and embrace new technologies and methodologies.
· Leadership and facilitation skills to manage diverse groups.
Working conditions
· Willing to travel throughout Alberta, with occasional travel out of province.
· Willing to work in a fast-paced work environment that requires flexibility and openness to change.
· Location: Calgary, Alberta
· Hybrid work environment: 3 days in the office (mandatory).
· Anticipated start date: August 1, 2025.
