As a student working as a part of the Joint Venture or Road Use Team, you will provide critical administrative support within Canadian Natural’s Commercial Operations group. You will have the chance to showcase your excellent customer service skills by communicating and interacting with numerous areas of the business (i.e. Land, Accounting, and Operations). You will develop skills and add value while also having the chance to meet other students and partake in initiatives such as the Intern Social Committee!
- Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
- Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
- Term length: 8 months
- Term start: January or May 2026

Key Accountabilities:
As a Joint Venture Student:
- Assist the team with contract review and validation
- Co-ordinate internal and external Joint Venture Agreements approvals
- Prepare and track mail ballots and 30-day letters
- Support the resolution of disputes with joint venture partners by focusing on root cause analysis
- Assist Team with review and validation of external Assignment Agreements.
- Support the Joint Venture team in continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and visualization
- Support Joint Venture Representatives and Joint Venture Analysts in both identifying and executing business development and value creation opportunities
As a Road Use Student:
- Draft, review and maintain road use agreements and addendums within an assigned area, while ensuring that all business procedures and contractual obligations are met
- Input and maintain agreement information stored in QBLM (Qbyte Land Management) and ensure that data is accurately represented for decision and analysis purposes
- Conduct fee and/or area reviews to assist in asset utilization and cost optimization initiatives
- Work with the Road Supervisor, Joint Venture Representatives and the ‘asset’ team in the pursuit of commercial opportunities (reroutes, third party initiatives, fee negotiations, etc.)
- Support the resolution of disputes with third parties (focus on root cause analysis)
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a Land Administration certificate or a related post-secondary education program such as Energy Asset Management (EAM)
- Proficient in Word processing and spreadsheet applications (Excel)
- Key competences required:
- Business mindset with a daily focus on continuous improvements
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Effective with time management (high volume of Joint Venture Agreements)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operations environment
- Utilizes a structured approach for problem solving
- An understanding of basic accounting principles is an asset
