Janitor - Shihiya School

The Splatsin are the most southern tribe of the Secwepemc Nation, the largest Interior Salish speaking First Nation in Canada whose aboriginal territory stretches from the BC/Alberta border near the Yellowhead Pass to the plateau west of the Fraser River, southeast to the Arrow Lakes and to the upper reaches of the Columbia River. Shihiya School is currently recruiting a Janitor (25hrs per week, M-F, 3pm to 8pm) to join our team of professionals.
Position Purpose
The Janitor is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintain the upkeep and safety of Shihiya School and facilities. The Janitor will have knowledge regarding methods, materials and equipment required to provide high standard janitorial services. The Janitor ensures that Occupational Health & Safety and WHIMIS regulations are followed. Replenish consumables and perform minor maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, unplugging toilets, etc.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum grade 10
- The Building Service Worker Certificate
- Possess a level of English to be able to understand oral or written instructions
- Work with little or no supervision and be a team player
- Must be physically able to do all aspects of the job
- Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector search
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Cultural Safety Training
