JOB PURPOSE:
The role will be responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of ECN’s network and server infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of network protocols, server operating systems, and security best practices, with a strong lifelong learning approach and root cause analysis abilities.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
•Install, configure, and maintain both server and network infrastructure, including hardware, operating systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
•Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux, and Virtualization).
•Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
•Monitor network and server performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and issues.
•Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures.
•Ensure the security of the network and servers through appropriate configurations and monitoring.
•Troubleshoot network and server-related problems reported by users.
•Document network and server configurations, processes, and procedures.
•Assist with the planning and implementation of IT infrastructure projects as directed by Project Managerand operations as directed by the IT Operations Manager.
•Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in network and server administration.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Three or more of the following certifications are required for consideration.
•Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL v4)
•Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
•VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
•Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
•Cloud Certifications (one or more of the following):
•AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Associate or Professional
•Google Foundational / Associate / Professional
•Microsoft Foundational / Associate / Professional
•Proven experience ([e.g., 3-5 years]) as a Network Administrator, Server Administrator, or a combined role.
•Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
•Knowledge of VLANs, VPNs, and wireless networking.
•Hands-on experience with server operating systems in a production environment (Windows Server and Linux).
•Experience with various levels of virtualization technologies (e.g., Hypervisor, VMWare) and container technologies (e.g. Docker, Podman) along with orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Tanzu).
•Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
•Familiarity with security concepts and practices.
•Understanding of backup and recovery procedures.
•Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) and working with APIs.
•Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Strong communication, interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team as required.
•Experience working with First Nations is a plus.
•Clear Criminal record check
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Project / Business Analyst will work in the ECN Administration Building and is required to work 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Overtime maybe required. While adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Human Resources Policy & Procedure Manual.
