Summary
Caution Tape Robotics Club is seeking an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys working with kids, is passionate about STEM education, and is committed to promoting a productive learning environment. The STEM Robotics Instructor/Coach will be responsible for presenting comprehensive robotics lessons, facilitating learning using visual/audio means, executing educational games and activities, and maintaining a tidy classroom. The instructor/coach will also be responsible for evaluating and reporting on students' progress, establishing and maintaining standards of behavior, and building trusting relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Present robotics lessons in a comprehensive manner using visual/audio means to facilitate learning during shifts
- Understand basic and advanced robotics concepts such as building, programming, and innovating with robots
- Establish and maintain standards of students' behavior needed to promote a productive learning environment at all times
- Execute educational in-class games, activities and events
- Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom
- Evaluate and report on students' progress and provide constructive feedback to both students and parents
- Building trusting relationships between students, colleagues, parents, and staff
Requirements
- Proven teaching or tutoring experience in robotics education. VEX Robotics or FIRST Robotics competition experience is preferred
- Knowledge in STEM fields is preferred, such as robotics, scratch coding, and familiarity with programming
- Preferred member of the OCT with experience teaching primary and junior division
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines
- Willingness to follow the club’s policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and committed
- Creative and energetic
- Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the last 6 months
- Proof of First Aid & CPR Certification is preferred
