Les Traiteurs Bytown Catering is seeking a Head Chef at our Kinaxis Outlet. This position is a highly collaborative role overseeing all kitchen operations for our client. This role requires a dynamic leader who enjoys coaching and developing their team, creating seasonal and weekly menus, and delivering an exceptional dining experience in partnership with the Outlet Manager. The Head Chef will serve as the primary culinary point of contact for the client and ensure all service standards, safety requirements, and client expectations are met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities and Job Duties
- Hands-on leadership and management of all kitchen and culinary operations, including production, inventory, purchasing, and quality control.
- Supervise, train, and mentor all kitchen staff with a strong focus on teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with the Outlet Manager to plan and deliver services aligned with client needs and operational goals.
- Develop and execute creative weekly menus that reflect seasonal ingredients, client preferences, and dietary requirements.
- Maintain a strong, professional working relationship with the client and participate in regular check-ins or meetings to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Support client with monitoring food and labor costs, ensuring adherence to established budgets.
- Support and promote an inclusive and positive workplace culture.
- Lead by example and foster a coaching-driven environment that promotes growth and development within the culinary team.
Qualifications
- Certified Red Seal Chef or equivalent culinary certification and/or experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive culinary experience
- At least 3 years in a leadership or Executive Chef role is preferred.
- Previous experience servicing corporate or institutional clients is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team coaching skills with a passion for developing people.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
- Proven experience in menu development and kitchen administration.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Flexible and adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment.
