Position Summary
The Career Coach – Career Services assists, coaches and provides information for individuals of all demographics looking for work in Calgary. They collect, organize and analyze information about either clients or learners through multiple sources in order to advise on employment and training. Within a collaborative model, they will provide group-based, career and employment coaching and case management services to either clients or learners who require assistance in their job search and career goals. This position supports the Calgary Public Library Job Desk program.
The Career Coach will:
- Provide one-on-one career coaching.
- Collect and analyze information to provide up-to-date and accurate job search and labour market information.
- Facilitate employment focused workshops.
- Conduct learner case management.
- Connect with stakeholders in the community to assist either clients or learners looking for employment
Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Career Coaching
- Provides one-on-one coaching for clients or learners to secure professional employment.
- Assists with resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and career goal setting.
- Identifies and addresses barriers to career success while leveraging strengths.
- Conducts assessments to align education, experience, and skills with career opportunities.
- Stays informed on labor market trends to guide realistic career decisions.
- Organizes networking events and promotes job retention strategies.
Workshop Facilitation
- Plans, develops, and delivers workshops on career search topics in various formats (online, in-person, hybrid).
- Creates marketing materials and promotes workshops through diverse channels.
Administration
- Tracks key metrics and ensures program targets are met.
- Maintains accurate client/learner records and prepares reports.
- Collaborates with the team to enhance service outreach.
Professional Engagement
- Builds relationships with employers, community organizations, and stakeholders.
- Coordinates events like information sessions and guest speaker engagements.
- Represents the organization at community events and supports employers with hiring needs
Required qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum post-secondary Diploma in Career Development, Social Science, Business, Education or Human Services
- 1 year of related experience (career coaching, experience in providing services to a diverse clients or learners ).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire
