Job Description:
As a Job Coach, you will work alongside our operations manager to apply our Inclusion Framework and assistive technology in document digitization processes with our team of employees on the autism spectrum. Your role will involve supporting team members to maintain high productivity, well-being, and motivation. This is a unique opportunity to reshape autism employment and contribute to the success of an innovative and inclusive team.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Post-secondary graduate
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada.
- Must have 2+ years' experience as an ESL teacher or a sports coach
- Must pass Ottawa Police Service Enhanced Security Background Check.
Education/Experience: (not required but a bonus)
- University degree in TESOL, TESL, English Literature or sport-related
- Experience teaching English as a Second Language, both in Canada and internationally, or
- Experience as a sports coach for youth
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong English communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to quickly build rapport with employers, guardians, and candidates, fostering an inclusive workplace
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with individuals of varying abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and data entry
- Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently, organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with employers to develop and implement adequate work accommodations
- Maintain accurate documentation and a work logbook
- Manage cases of workplace participants, including providing ongoing feedback, adapting tasks, and monitoring participant well-being and performance.
- Identify areas for skill development to enhance employability
- Meet daily, weekly, and monthly reporting requirements
