Summary
We are seeking a skilled Glass Cutter to join our team at Stage Windows & Doors. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting materials to specifications for our custom window and door products. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining our commitment to quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust the automatic glass cutting machine to meet production targets.
- Perform manual glass cutting on the cutting table as needed with accuracy and care.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision cutters to cut glass precisely to specifications.
- Safely break out glass, dispose of trims, and properly store off-cuts.
- Inspect all glass pieces for defects, dimensions, and quality; measure using tape to verify accuracy.
- Load cut glass onto carts, dollies, or racks according to production priorities.
- Process recuts promptly based on direction from Leadhand or Plant Manager.
- Maintain detailed production records and immediately report any equipment or quality issues to Leadhand.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, perform preventive maintenance, and replace worn cutter heads using hand tools.
- Maintain proper use of PPE and strictly follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Keep your workspace clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Support other production tasks and duties as assigned by the Leadhand or Plant Manager.
Requirements
- Windows & Doors industry experience is an asset
- Proven experience using power tools and hand tools in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with glass types (Clear, coated glass pattern glass):
- Strong understanding of cutting pattern glass and measure;
- Experience in fabrication processes is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations is a plus.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely is an asset but not required.
