The Opportunity:
Calling on all aspiring Geophysicists! Are you ready to make a value adding impact on business decisions using seismic waves and anomalies? If you are, this is an opportunity for you! Geophysicists at Canadian Natural delineate reserves, identify geohazards and predict the source of Earth's subsurface anomalies.
Join us on an adventure where you will map out potential oil and gas reservoirs, analyze seismic data like a detective, and play a vital role in unlocking energy resources deep in the subsurface.
- Job location: Calgary, AB
- Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday -Friday)
- Term lengths: 4 or 8 months
- Term starts: January or May 2026

Key Accountabilities:
Assist area Geophysicists with ongoing exploration and development projects by:
- Perform quality control on well logs and 2D/3D/4D seismic data sets
- Create and tie well log synthetics to seismic data
- Use forward modelling techniques to understand which acoustic properties impact seismic signal, link observations to real data.
- Tie multiple seismic datasets for time, amplitude, and phase consistency
- Interpret target horizons and geologic features on 2D/3D/4D seismic data
- Generate structure maps in time and depth; generate amplitude, and isochron maps
- Create seismic attributes to identify and map geologic features and reservoirs
- Understand the source of AVO (Amplitude Variation with Offset) and their relationship to hydrocarbon indicators (HCI)
- Depending on role, process and integrate microseismic data into interpretations
- Apply data analysis methods to integrate geophysical and non-geophysical datasets to quantify subsurface characteristics
- Use geophysical deliverables to support the Area Geophysicists in their role to find new reserves/ identify risk/ plan future development within their core areas
- Work with various software applications for mapping and data analysis
- Work collaboratively with others and integrate your work with other divisions including Geologists and Engineers
- Present your findings with effective visuals and clear verbal communication
What You Bring to The Role:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Geophysics (Recent new graduates of an accredited institution will also be considered)
- Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
- Motivated self-starter who can thrive as an independent worker and in team settings
- A sense of ownership and responsibility for project outcomes, and the ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams
