Opportunity
MacEwan University is seeking to fill several Game Day Staff positions covering soccer, hockey, volleyball and basketball game days running from September to March. All positions are casual and require evening and weekend work. This role is ideal for students who have a passion for sports and knowledge of soccer, hockey, volleyball and basketball.
We are looking for individuals who are outgoing, team players, with a keen interest in learning about sports and events. If you have an interest in behind-the-scenes of sporting events and want to help provide an engaging game day experience for the fans, we want to hear from you!
By applying to this job posting, there will be the potential to be trained and/or work all of the following positions:
Statistician
- Assisting with the set-up and tear down of stats equipment at soccer, volleyball, basketball and hockey games and troubleshooting as required.
- Ensuring that all game stats are correct and meet the quality expectations set by the MacEwan Griffins and Canada West.
- Setting up stats software pre-game by inputting all player information and recording all game stats in stats software throughout the game.
- Completing post-game reporting requirements as outlined.
- Adapting and supporting the game day team where needed.
Scoreboard/Shot Clock Operator
- Assisting with the set-up and tear down of equipment, testing all equipment and troubleshooting as required.
- Managing the in-venue scoreboard and game clock during volleyball, basketball and hockey games.
- Ensuring the game time, score, team fouls, and other relevant information are accurately displayed throughout the event.
- Taking direction from game referees to start and stopping the clocks.
- Adapting and helping the game day team where needed as required.
Ticketing/Greeters/Promotions Staff
- Assisting with set up and tear down of ticketing tables and testing all equipment before doors open and troubleshooting as required.
- Creating a fun and engaging environment for all Griffins fans, scanning and selling tickets at games, and executing fan giveaways and contests during volleyball, basketball and hockey games.
- Adapting and helping the game day team where needed as required.
General Game Day Staff
- Responsible for many different areas of game days, rotating through all positions including but not limited to Music Operator, Volleyball Flip Score Attendant, Volleyball Ball Roller, Hockey Penalty Box Attendant, Mascot Handler and/or Basketball Court Sweepers.
- Assisting with set up and tear down of game day equipment and testing all equipment before doors open and troubleshooting as required.
- Adapting and helping the game day team where needed as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of a high school diploma.
- Excellent time management and punctuality.
- Strong focus and attention to detail.
- Outgoing personality with the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Clear communication.
- Previous experience in sports and/or events would be considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- The ability to work all shifts between Thursday to Sunday afternoons and evenings.
