Brokered Part-Time Maintenance Worker – Contract Position
Senior Support Services-Lanark, Leeds & Grenville is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides services to seniors and caregivers across Leeds-Grenville and some areas of Lanark, to assist and support them in their endeavor to remain living in their own homes and communities as healthy, safe, and long as possible.
Our 18,000 sf (approx.) facility located in Brockville, ON is also home to the Leeds-Grenville Community Family Health Team and Parkedale Pharmacy who are tenants. Our facility is busy with numerous residents of Brockville and surrounding communities accessing the facility for their primary health care, prescriptions, and community support service needs.
This brokered job is an ideal opportunity for a retired individual with a variety of skills and knowledge they would like to continue exercising a few hours each week, helping us to maintain our beautiful facility.
Wages will be based on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Below sets out the type of maintenance support we are seeking.
· Inspection of the building, grounds, and equipment with report back to the Facilities Manager.
· Handling necessary repairs and maintenance.
· Installation/assembly of office furniture and equipment.
· Responding to repair and maintenance requests from the Facilities Manager, in a timely fashion.
· Collaborating with the Facilities Manager on a regular basis
· Engaging and collaborating with contractors when/if required.
· Use of equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
· Monitoring the facility HVAC system using an online program.
· Maintaining a safe environment during times of inclement weather, i.e., mopping entrances and keeping entrances free of snow and ice.
· Comply with all organization safety regulations.
· Report issues to the Facilities Manager
Work Hours:
This contract position is 12 hours weekly (8am to 12Noon) Monday to Friday.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will share interest and pride in helping us to maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming facility. Requirements of this position include the following:
· Ability to manage physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
· Effective communication
· Collaboration with Facilities Manager, senior management, and contracted maintenance/ service providers.
Education and Experience Requirements:
· A minimum of one year in building maintenance, construction, plumbing, or electrician experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
· Certification in building maintenance is a plus.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
