We are currently seeking a mechanically inclined Equipment Preservation Technician to support our Red Deer/Rimbey Operations Team. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive commitment to safety while working with rotating equipment, engines, and associate systems.
In this role, you will also be responsible for:
- Execute preservation procedures on idle and stored engines and rotating equipment, including:
- Application of protective coatings,
- System flushing & sealing
- Moisture and corrosion prevention.
- Performing mechanical inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance activities
- Troubleshooting mechanical issues, contributing to root cause analyses.
- Supporting engine overhauls and rebuilds, ensuring re-preservation is completed to protocols.
- Collaborating with the Parts and Operations teams to maintain efficient and safe workflows aligned with industry and OEM standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with engines or rotating equipment (preferably in the oil and gas industry).
- Solid understanding of diesel and/or natural gas engines, compressors, pumps, and gear systems.
- Practical knowledge of:
- mechanical preservation techniques
- corrosion prevention methods,
- system flushing and sealing practices
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and work orders.
- Competency with maintenance tracking systems and basic computer skills.
Preferred
- Background in equipment inventory or parts coordination
- Familiarity with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance procedures
- Strong communication and mechanical documentation skills
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team setting.
Working Conditions
- Primarily shop and field-based role.
- Exposure to loud environments, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions.
