Position Summary
Sunshine Logistics is on the lookout for a skilled and customer-oriented Customs Clearance Coordinator to become part of our dynamic team. We're seeking someone with hands-on experience in Canadian customs brokerage, particularly in highway freight. This role plays a vital part in ensuring shipments are processed promptly and accurately, working closely with our intermodal operations team to uphold top-tier service standards. Core Duties
- Examine shipping documents and prepare customs entries for release
- Manage and process highway shipment clearances
- Assess paperwork to identify correct tariff codes, duties, and applicable taxes
- Request additional documentation or details from clients, carriers, CBSA, and other stakeholders
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients via email to ensure high service quality
- Tackle complex issues with professionalism and effective resolution strategies
- Coordinate with internal teams to follow up on customs entries
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Canadian ports and warehouse operations
- Input data accurately into internal systems
- Finalize documentation within required timelines and in compliance with company and CBSA standards
- Audit files for completeness and regulatory compliance
- Respond to phone inquiries and provide support as needed
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Certification
- Minimum of 2 years in customs clearance, ideally focused on highway shipments
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or equivalent Canadian credential is preferred
Technical & Professional Skills
- Familiarity with ITMr4, Cargowise, CANdata, Crimsonlogic is a plus
- Quick to learn new software and adept at using tech to improve efficiency
- Strong organizational habits, punctuality, and ability to multitask
- Solid grasp of Canadian import regulations and procedures
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and active listening
- Sharp problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently
- Comfortable using Gmail/Front, Google Drive, and Google Sheets
- Ability to speak Mandarin and Cantonese are assets
