Customs Broker - Customs Operations

Work Hours 9:00am to 5:00pm

The successful candidate will work with our Customs Operations - Ocean & Air Clearances Team, to process the release of shipments via ocean and air.

Previous customs brokerage or freight forwarding experience is REQUIRED

Job Responsibilities

• Process the release of Full Container Loads (FCL) and Less Than Container Loads (LCL) ocean cargo. Arrange local deliveries of FCL and LCL cargo, when required.
• Track and trace ocean containers, interaction with steamship lines, freight forwarders, carriers, trucking companies, Canada Border Services Agency and clients.

Job Description

• Make payments to Steamship Lines or Freight Forwarders; Coordinate the local delivery of shipments, when required.
• Process the Customs release and complete final accounting document (CAD) on all ocean cargo.
• Process customs clearances using Single Window Initiative and CBSA’s new Integrated Import Declaration (IID) release process.
• Classify goods according to the General Rules of Interpretation of the Harmonized System.
• Laisse with Customs Consulting Team to assist with determining HS classifications and ensure that accurate product information is added to client database.
• Actively Participant in Speak UP program by submitting reports to Client Relations ü Submit Client Information Changes (to update Client database information)
• Provide Leads to Business Development Team by way of internal “Stray Manifest” program.
• Communicate with clients, both verbally and in writing. Provide clients with exceptional customer service. Keep clients updated on the status of their shipments.

Qualifications

• Ideally, 1 – 2 years employment within the industry;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office;
• Keyboarding skills
• Ability to handle large volumes of work accurately;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Strong problem-solving ability;
• Ability to work independently;
• Ability to prioritize work & time management skills;
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
• Effective communication skills
