Job Description

They are seeking a hard-working individual to join their team in Hamilton, ON, as a Construction MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Coordinator.
Your experience you bring will include:
- 1–3 years of working experience as an MEP Layout Coordinator in the construction or mechanical industry
- College diploma or university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is an asset
- Ontario Land Surveyor License is an asset
- Red Seal or equivalent trade certification is a plus
- Highly proficient in cadastral and engineering surveying methodologies (TOPCON preferred)
- Experienced with survey tools such as total stations, builder’s levels, robotics, and GPS
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects
- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and other relevant surveying programs
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Familiarity with Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to work independently and travel between job sites as required
- Provide construction surveying services to establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control points
- Stake out lines, levels, and points to guide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installation
- Carry out layout work and verify as-built conditions on site
- Manage all aspects of layout and survey for assigned projects, including planning and reporting
- Perform and review survey calculations and generate detailed layout drawings
- Develop and maintain survey control plans and CAD files for each project
- Conduct site surveys to collect precise measurements and verify boundary conditions
- Review and understand architectural, structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings
- Identify coordination or interference issues with other trades and develop resolution strategies
- Develop fully dimensioned 3D drawings using CAD software, including:
- Piping assemblies for field routing and fabrication
- Mechanical packages such as heat exchanger assemblies, boiler skids, and header/valve skids
- Sheet metal ducting layouts for design-build HVAC systems
- Mark and dimension HVAC roof curbs, wall openings, pitch pockets, and penetrations per structural drawings
- Support field managers and project managers in resolving site-based issues
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on site layout status
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding survey and layout requirements
- Ensure all survey equipment is well-maintained, protected, and calibrated regularly
- Ensure all work complies with ISO Quality Control and company standards
- Assist the Technical Services Manager with vendor coordination and design-assist projects
- Share lessons learned to continuously improve processes and enhance field productivity
- Perform other duties as required to support the project team
- 1–3 years of experience as an MEP Layout Coordinator or in a construction survey role
- College diploma or university degree in a related technical field (an asset)
- Red Seal or relevant trade certification (an asset)
- Proficient in survey instruments and CAD layout techniques
- Excellent understanding of mechanical systems and construction coordination
- Driver’s License in good standing
